How can Politicians talk about work visa's and more immigration when we have so many people on welfare?

Some of them have gone as far as to demand they stop deporting illegal aliens. They claim that they need that labor. So if they need that labor why are they making me pay for welfare. Wouldn't it be smarter to put those people on welfare working in those jobs that nobody wants?
